Connect the reinforcement. Resolve the detail.
A mechanical coupler transfers force between reinforcing bars through an engineered connection. TFSteel helps define the coupler family and bar-end preparation around your drawings, construction sequence and approval requirements.

Match the system to the connection
| System | Nominal bar range (mm) | Connection method | Typical application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bartec® / Fortec® | 12–50 | Parallel thread with enlarged bar ends | Staged concrete works, columns, walls, beams and foundations |
| Rolltec® | Confirm selected model | Rolled parallel thread | Prepared bar connections; verify the current size and thread schedule |
| Griptec® | 12–50 | Extruded male/female sleeves | Factory-prepared connections and demanding reinforcement details |
| Unitec® | 12–50 | Shear-bolt mechanical connection | Repair and connections to existing bars without threading the ends |
| RepairGrip® | 12–40 | Hydraulically swaged sleeve | Repair, extensions and exposed starter bars with suitable tool clearance |
| Groutec® L / E / S | 12–40 | Threaded / grouted connection | Precast columns, walls and beams; choose cavity and bar compatibility |
| Groutec® F / P | 16–40 | Full-grout connection | Precast assembly; geometry and positional tolerance depend on model |
Ranges describe manufacturer families, not every intermediate size or approved configuration. Cut and rolled threads, grades and certificates are not interchangeable. Confirm the exact product code and relevant approval before ordering. Rolltec sizes are confirmed from the selected current datasheet.

Connection details that matter
Standard A
For connections where one bar can rotate.
Position B / C
For non-rotating bars; type C adds a locknut to control the orientation of a bent bar.
Transitions & bridging
Different bar sizes, cage connections or gaps require their own approved detail and component schedule.

Prepare the bar. Verify the system.
Bartec preparation involves square cutting, cold forging the end and threading. TFSteel reviews preparation, quantities and delivery with the selected system; drawings and manufacturer instructions govern execution.
Applications include pile cages, pile caps, diaphragm walls, columns, beams, slabs, precast joints and repair works. Each use needs the engineer’s acceptance of the relevant system and detail.
What to include in your enquiry
Bar diameter and grade; quantity by size; whether bars can rotate; cast-in-place, precast or repair use; required approvals; project location and delivery programme. A drawing or BBS helps, but is optional.
A project quotation, not a fixed price list.
Selection, quantities, preparation, approvals and delivery determine the final scope and price. Share what you have; a BBS attachment is optional.
